The Case of the Mysterious Doorbell

Last night as we were drifting off to sleep the doorbell rang. To which I said, hmmm, the doorbell, who do you think that could be?

Kevin started grumbling and pulling on his pants to head downstairs. I peeped out of the window upstairs and didn't see anything. After determining there was no one there we went back to bed.

Again, the doorbell rings, its long prolonged chiming. Kevin shoots straight up in bed proclaiming that NOW he is mad. He races downstairs. And yet again, there's no one there.

This is when he decides to wait downstairs in the dark to chase after these 'kids' who must be ringing our doorbell.

10 minutes later the doorbell rings. There our no kids, its just that our doorbell is possessed. That's all.

The Long and the Short of It

Kevin came home last night to what you see here and this conversation ensued:

Kevin: So what exactly are you doing?

Kristy: Trying to put this overhead light together...

Kevin: Any luck?

Kristy: The cord is too long, so now I don't know what to do. Not to mention there are all of these loose wires. I'm not sure what to do.

Kevin: So have you called your Dad yet?

Kristy: Nah, I figure it's a good surprise for Christmas.

You Can't Win Them All

Ok, this is one of those days when I feel like the house is winning. My last room to paint (other than Kevin's office, which he insists on doing) and of course I HATE the color. This color was picked out way before the kitchen color, but now, it looks like a replica of the kitchen and it is just TOO much orange. It's not just me, trust me, if you visited, you would say to yourself, "These people must REALLY like orange!"

Sigh, the week before Christmas and I gift myself with walls that will need to be repainted. I did I mentioned they were very expensive Ralph Lauren Falling Leaves walls?

Santa Claus Is Coming

Santa Claus is coming, at least that is my excuse for lack of entries lately. This past weekend was completely devoid of house work. This Saturday, we spent the entire day making cookies with my extended family. On Sunday, I had church concerts in the morning and evening. (I have to get all of my holiday handbell ringing or I will be bereft!)

One more concert tonight and we're done for the season, which isn't necessarily something I'm happy about, I love playing handbells. If you're in D.C. we're on the Ellipse next to the National Christmas tree at 8 pm! Go to www.alpha4handbells.org for more information.

Just so that you believe us, this is a photo of just some of the holiday cookies we made with my family!
