The United Colors of the House

Kevin, in sheer exasperation with my constant pestering, finally decided to paint his office the same color as the hallway and the living room and the stairway and the entryway...well, you get the point. He wanted to use up the paint, which we did on the first coat.

But, yes there's a but, it's just not Kevin. It looks so boring and unKevinlike that I refuse to let this color stand. Kevin is completely exasperated and has refused to pick a new color. We are at a crossroads.

Let's Crown the Moulding

So after measuring and figuring and calculating, we finally bought crown moulding for the library. This became urgent when my Dad called and said that it was 20% off at Home Depot and that they were quickly running out.

This was one time at Home Depot where the service was not snappy. I suppose they made up for it with the fact that when a clerk finally did help me he was young, hot and bless his little jailbait heart he flirted with me. (Kevin meanwhile was wandering the store in search of more power tools to drool over.)

After dragging these seven heavy boards out to the car, I was again relegated to the backseat. The 10-foot long boards stretched from the back of the 4Runner all the way to the passenger seat, so I'm lucky I got to ride home at all. I'm sure Kevin considered strapping me to to the roof. But we did get them home and I've already scratched the wall trying to get them on the sawhorses for painting.

Never a day in this house without #&$)(#$!!! happening!

I've Been Working on the Railroad

After a fruitless search for a battery for the front buzzer, I broke down and bought a whole new swanky doorbell kit. Yes, the one that was so prominently featured on the site a few weeks ago.

I was a little fearful of a number of things. Would I have to add molly bolts to get this thing to stay on the wall? Would the new buzzer, which was wider, fit outside in the small space between the door and bricks? Would all of the tunes be super-cheesy?

The answers are no, yes and definitely cheesy. I wanted to set the chime to something appropriately cheesy to harass Kevin. So now, when the buzzer is pressed, "I've Been Working on the Railroad" happily chimes throughout the house. I think I'll hit it a few times on my way in from handbells tonight just to watch Kevin's hair stand on end.
