Kevin's Office

This photo is proof positive that I did not stick Kevin's office in a hole in the basement. Many people accused me of this when they heard that Kevin was going to be on what I like to refer to as the "Lower Level" of the house.

We finished painting his room this weekend and I put in the new electrical outlets/switches this week. The room is really coming along and we are on the verge of ordering a laminate floor so that we can actually finish the lower level. Imagine that!

Our Remodeled Vents

We've been having a big debate for months over what to do with the vents on the first floor. My Dad was absolutely appalled to hear that Costco wanted nearly $50 a piece for bamboo vents that would match our floors. Maybe appalled is putting it too gently.

Regardless, I've been debating what to do when one day I decided to buy a can of spray paint and see what happened. What happened was this beautiful sparkly bronze that I love. So here's my commercial for the day.

Vents on the floor: Free they came with the house.
Can of Spray Paint: $5
Dad's Approval: Priceless

What Were Those People Thinking?

Our dilemma this past weekend was what to do with our new blinds for the solarium. They arrived and they look nice, but they don't fit inside the window frame (as you can see.) We're trying to decide what to do about this.

My Dad came up with a few alternatives that involve chopping and cutting, but I'm thinking that we should just continue to put them up like this. Ok, so it's not the best solution, but it sure beats paying 3 times as much for blinds that fit in the windows, but hit all of the latches on their way down like the previous blinds.

The good thing is that these new blinds are cordless. Ah the sheer beauty of cordless is fantastic.

Oh and the title of this post refers to the next owners' thoughts. I'm sure they'll think "What were those people thinking when they put up these blinds?!?"
